“Censorship is the tool of those who have the need to hide actualities from themselves and from others. Their fear is only their inability to face what is real, and I can’t vent any anger against them, I only feel this appalling sadness. Somewhere, in their upbringing, they were shielded against the total facts of our existence. They were only taught to look one way when many ways exist” (Flood). Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, that are considered obscene, politically acceptable, or a threat in security. Censorship is the control of the information and ideas circulated within a society. However, there are also many downsides to these kinds of restrictions of communication. “For example, about 40% of reporters say they sometimes avoid writing a newsworthy story because it might say something bad about the company that owns their newspaper.” Reporters should publish news even if they receive bad reports over a posted topic; they should not be afraid of completing their own personal job by letting people know the real news. Regarding this, workers for the press/new should publish private news so that individuals become aware of their surroundings and conflicts. The oppression caused by censorship causes society to become inquisitive; the limit of one's freedom of speech should not be limited through the government. The impede of freedom of speech, insight dictatorship, and the oppression of individuals causes society to become less emanate to the use of censorship due to the negative effects. The 1st amendment is used as protection of our rights but through media the government has limited the right by removing personal created content posted by individuals. Pro-dictatorship is seen as the government becoming the dictator restricting individuals of free speech on social and public media. Oppression is caused by censorship by limiting the news society
