Background Information:
In today’s society we as a people are deeply focused on technology and the constant improvements and updates within the industry. Due to this people around the world are doing things more on the go in a mobile state of mind. For example, there are television apps such as Hulu, Netflix, or even Xfinity stream that allows you to watch television show on your mobile device, tablet or laptop. Similarly, there are presentation and typing apps such as Power Point, and Word Documents that allows you to work anywhere. So the idea of actually rushing home to crowd the television watch your favorite television show, or type a paper before a major deadline have become almost obsolete. Although we are describing a case for a cellular device, the major industry would be in which we must operate would have to projectors. Projectors are optical devices that displays videos, and images through the use of light rays through a transparent lens. This is an excellent industry to enter because the use of projectors are increasing in almost every field, especially business and healthcare. In the fields of work sales people must present new products to potential customers daily, which is an opportunity for a partnership where each salesperson is equipped with a projector case. Currently in the projector industry some key competitors include Epson, Canon, JVC, and Sony. Being that the brands have been around for an extended period of time it may be hard to enter into the market and actually obtain some of the market share. After, extensive amounts of research it appears that the competitors’ target markets focus mainly on educational institutions, and companies that house large meeting room and auditoriums. We must also acknowledge the sociocultural factors, which include demographics and its current and forecasted trends within New York. Currently, in New York 21.6% of the population are under the age of 18 according to census.gov. This is extremely important because the target market for Cellular Optics are students from the age of 15-22. With a large percentage of the population being under 18 it says that New York is a perfect location for the target market. In addition, according to nyc.gov “The school-age population is projected to increase modestly this decade (2010-2020), but is expected to increase substantially between 2020 and 2030, as anticipated increases in births will once again cause the population of school-age children to rebound to 1,347,000 in 2030”. This says that for the next couple of decades the amount of people ranging from 15-22 in New York will continue to grow, thus allowing Cellular Optics to maintain a large group of the target market near the first operating
