The SCCDVDRT has made the recommendation annual that an educational program addressing domestic violence be established in the schools. This education program would not only cover how to handle parents who are in a domestic violence, but as children become teenagers, how to prevent themselves from getting into and being in a violent relationship. If educators were present in the Council and/or Team they would be able to provide feedback for successful or successful programs, or if the programs exist at all. The team would see that if educational programs were established over the past 25 years that the annual reports would indicate a need to update curriculum with new findings, as opposed to just establishing the program. Caring for ailing love ones can lead to feelings of isolation, hopelessness and/or depressions which can ultimately lead to suicide. Ensuring proper support services is vital to this population that is only increasing. If law enforcement came upon this man and wife not full understanding the degree of disparity, he may not offer the appropriate services to prevent death or desperation. (Futures Without Violence, 2016) Violence was not talked about and was considered a family matter. Violence lives and thrives in the secrets. Victims appeared in public with wounds and made up excuses to cover for the source of the wounds. A man’s role was to keep his wife in line by any means necessary. In recent years, the conversations have been questioning why victims have not left their batterer. Leaving victims and survivors able to defend themselves yet again. Times changes what once was no longer is. The SCCDVDRT should revisit their practices to determine if there is a better way to do things, if they make changes will they be more
