A firm believer that everything happens for a reason and nothing occurs by chance, I believe when opportunities are presented to us it must be part of our fate. Recently presented with the opportunity to pursue a new career, one that would require additional education and redirect my focus/specialization from accounting to finance, I have started to rethink my career choice. Thus my question posed is: How can I gather information and experience that will aid me in making an informed career choice?

Such high quality information often obtained through mentorships or coaching can be hard to acquire for someone lacking connections in these areas or the resources required to make contact. However, there are tradeoffs associated with looking at a new firm too, as there are many unknowns associated in finding a new company to work for.
Another alternative available is to further my education. This can be achieved by simply taking additional courses in finance, enrolling in another masters program, or even enrolling in a doctorate program. While taking additional classes or starting a new college program is both costly and timely, I would be able to gain the information needed to make my decision. Although this option does not give me the ‘working experience’ I seek to make my decision, it does provide
