What I Learned In Class Observation Essay

Recently in one of my classes, the teacher asked for four brave volunteers to do an in-class activity. The class was very shy and it was hard for him to get participation. A guy raised his hand to participate and after seeing the lack of participation from the class I raised my hand and volunteered. After me, two more guys volunteered. I was the only woman in the group and I was feeling proud of myself. All four of us sat in the front of the classroom facing the rest of the class. The set-up of the scene was that all four of the volunteers were having a business meeting in a restaurant and the bill would be divided equally among the four, regardless of whatever each of the members ordered. The teacher drew a chart on the board and each of our names was at the top of each column. I was in the second column. The rows were named as entrée, dessert and drinks.
The activity began and he went down to each one of us assigning what we had spent for our meals. The damage that bullying causes among kids is not just psychological but also physical and has been the trigger for higher rates of teenage suicide, which is just one of the extreme consequences of being bullied. In the United States alone the statistics are alarming, they show the reality and danger that bullying has become. While the situation with the girl was in a school context, we were not children or teenagers, especially me, I am a grown up and assume the girl was old enough to have some sense of maturity.
