Education Budget Persuasive Speech

With the 2016 presidential election coming up, many Americans are starting to think of the faults in our country. They ask the candidates questions about gun control, gay rights, and border control. As a minor, I am not allowed to vote, which is understandable in all aspects but one. Our government asks adults who have been out of the school system for five, ten, up to 50 years, to decide the nation 's school standards and education budget. This, as something that doesn’t directly affect the voter, often gets put on the backburner of everyone’s mind.Therefore, today I will be expressing my concerns as a public school student in hopes to see a much needed change in our public school systems.

Well, let me tell you why public schools have budgetary issues. The government education budget has stagnated over the years. This means while our military, medicare, and food stamp programs get more and more money from the government, schools are fighting over the same money they have had for years. With the cost of supplies, food, and technology raising at constantly alarming rates, the education budget needs to be given more. The lack of school funding is causing budget cuts in almost every school in America, and these are just the start of the problems that arise with lack of government funding. If you live in a country where your government doesn’t prioritize education, why would the students prioritize education? Students are getting to the point where they are no longer willing to put the effort in if there is no sort of reward to speak of. They are not willing to struggle for something that even our government often overlooks, and by far the worse thing that comes from lack of government funding is school
