They say it is never good to keep a secret. But, what if you know it is going to hurt the people you care the most for? What if you know it is going to bring them unnecessary pain? In my opinion, sometimes it is necessary to keep a secret for the sake of not hurting the ones you love. To illustrate my point, in the Book Thief, the character Liesel kept her secret of stealing books from her mother. Liesel knew big problems will arise if her mother found out about her books. She figured that everyone she loved would get hurt if they found her stash of books. In the mind of a nine-year-old, Liesel knew she couldn’t tell anyone about her secret stash of books.
