Question #1: I enjoyed learning about blocking, monologues, interior monologues and the lighting board over the course of this semester. Blocking was a concept that was introduced in grade nine drama, and I really got to expand and learn more about it in grade ten drama. I experienced how to properly stage a scene and to make it look natural. I learned the importance of the beginning staging and the ending of a scene, for example walking in at the beginning of a scene or starting on stage and deciding to walk off or not. In The Little Sister Play, in an anorexic scene, the blocking was done in a very effective way by starting on stage in the bathroom, very casually and rushing off stage once the bell rang and it was time to go to class. While on stage, presenting the monologue, I get to become the character I created which is my favourite part about monologues. Understanding the flow of a monologue is important to me as well, I like to make sure that all the lines flow properly and nothing seems out of place. My favourite thing to learn about, which I enjoyed very much is interior monologues. In the grade nine drama course, interior monologues were not included. In grade ten, we got to experience having an “inner voice” which added so much value and expression to the scene. The inner voice got to play off the character feelings and facial expressions, which made the audience understand everything better. Being the voice in someone’s head allowed me to learn how to portray a person who doesn’t exist. Eye contact was an important factor of the scene because the character couldn’t look at the inner voice. Leaning about a new type of scene is very enjoyable because you get to expand on your set of skills. Finally, I enjoyed earning about the lighting
