Colleagues, Gene Autry (and Aerosmith, for what it’s worth) famously sang, “I’m back in the saddle again.” Today, the Arizona Legislature got back in its saddle as the 53rd Legislature, First Regular Session gaveled in for the first time today at noon. Verona Park has always been an interesting wilderness park to explore in the Essex County area. Although there are other parks such as Brookdale Park, Branch Brook Park, South Mountain Reservation, and Eagle Rock Reservation, I do not find them as interesting as Verona Park. During the winter, there are no activities for the families to do, besides walk around the park. But during the warmer weather months, they offer various types of activities, such as paddle boating, tennis courts, a playground and a Children’s garden. This ecosystem has beautiful scenery for everyone to enjoy.…

Crystal clear water, mountainous green terrain, and around a dozen culture-filled villages is what people generally imagine when thinking of Lake Atitlan. The documentary titled “Atitlan in Bloom” is a collective of stories from various people in the lake community which shows the diversity, hard work, culture, and beliefs of the people there. There are scenes focusing on women who work with old fashioned looms, natural healers, Mayan priests, bus mechanics, and passionate peasants. The first man the filmmakers spoke with in the video expresses that a person can only be as good as their roots. In that sense, the people of Lake Atitlan come from a strong history, giving them the “ability to adapt and flourish in a world that’s constantly changing”…

Life on the Northwestern prairies was not easy for the settlers and their families. There were many difficulties to overcome, from living in small poorly built houses that are miles away from one other, to the harshness of the winters and the differences in nationalities. There were empty and abandoned tracts in between some of them due to the fact that some of the settlers moved on leaving the land to be claimed by mortgage companies and Eastern spectators. Some of the empty tracts belonged to the state and held school houses for the settlers’ children to attend.…

Towards the northern part of the state there are more harsh temperatures and weather compared to the lower part. The southern part though gets pretty harsh temperatures and weather itself.…
