Historical figures come and go with time. Good or bad, these figures stand out for the impact they leave on the world. As a high school teacher it’s important to keep those famous people known even when their accomplishments grow farther into the distant past. When someone makes a big difference in the world it’s important for these figure’s lives to be remembered. Benjamin Franklin is one of the most remembered men is history and his life is a perfect example of why I choose to teach the younger generations the importance of our rich history. While he was serving he had the honor of supporting George Washington in his prime. In 1787 he was picked to serve with the Pennsylvania delegation, which would give George a direct nomination for president. Ben was one of George’s biggest supporters. Ben was a good man and a hard worker all around. He worked hard to put an end to slavery even before people even gave the idea the slightest time of day. While serving on the continental congress during the American Revolution, Franklin went across the ocean to gain French support for the cause. He is well known for helping to write the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. His work for his country didn’t stop there. He also wrote the Pennsylvania Constitution all by himself. Although Ben did all these great things he always comes back to help the state of Pennsylvania. Benjamin Franklin is one of the many reasons I choose to teach. His life is an inspiration and it should never be buried as so much of our history is. His accomplishments defined American History, from his inventions like the lighting rod to the part he played in the forging of the declaration of Independence.
