Improved Essays
Donald Trump? Hillary Clinton? Plane? These are only a few of the many thoughts racing through my mind. When I got an email from Mr.Pergament, i’ll be honest, I was worried I got into some trouble. However, after I read the entire email I was thrilled. I have never been in Washington DC, let alone an airplane! One thing troubled me, though. Money. I was worried, I already planned on using my Rowland grant for the Morocco trip. Money has always been a struggle with my family, I was usually the kid getting scholarships for simple field trips, the kid that couldn’t pay the money needed for sports. When I found out about the Rowland grant, I was thrilled! I would finally be able to do the things I always dreamed of; traveling, getting away from …show more content…
I have never been in a plane, train, or a helicopter. If I was able to take this wonderful opportunity, then I will be able to experience new things I thought would be impossible with my money status. A plane? The closest I have ever been to one was when I was picking up my uncle R.J at the airport. This would be the perfect event for me to be on a plane for the first time for a few reasons. One, it’s not a very long distance. This way I won’t be bored out my mind and grow to dislike being on a plane. Two, I am going with a small group of people I know and trust. One of the kids going I have known since I was two years old. I would feel safe and comforted knowing that the people I am going with are close friends of …show more content…
I felt special, wanted, thought of when I got the email saying how Mr.Pergament believed that I was smart enough to hold a conversation with some really important people. The Student Success Program has changed me for the better, I take risks, I speak up, I even try harder in things I thought were impossible to achieve. The trip would allow me to experience new things, see new surroundings, try new food, make new friends, and bond with my peers. I thank you for reading, assessing, and taking my thoughts and voice into consideration. Thank you for giving me this

My primary thoughts towards Gordon College were created during a prospective student day. It turned out to be a negative experience that created a pessimistic view of this school and carried on my cynical view of Christians. It’s important because had I continued with my previous bias I would have attended a secular college which may have been a positive experience but would have definitely lead to a drastically different life.…

406 miles is a long way to travel, especially when the trip is unwanted. When my mother told me she had signed me up for Blue Ridge Leaders’ School in Asheville, North Carolina, I was the least bit thrilled. I protested and whined, cried and screamed, begged and pleaded for my parents to allow me to stay home and skip the week long trip. Much to my dismay, my parents slid my bag into the luggage compartment of the charter bus and shoved me into the aisleway of the capacious bus. Afterward, both of my parents stood on the sidewalk of the Tuckahoe Family YMCA and waved goodbye as I departed on a journey that would change how I saw myself and the world forever.…

The Plane Ride When I was nine my family started a move from the tranquil suburbs of San Jose, California to the desert city of Windhoek, Namibia, located in southern Africa. My parents were taking myself, along with my younger sister and brother, around the globe because they felt a calling from God to be missionaries. All of our possessions were sold off, including my much beloved toys, until everything we had could fit into eight large suitcases. These suitcases are what we carried to the airport as we prepared for our journey. I felt no small amount of apprehension and excitement in what lay ahead of me in the new country, but an event I would experience in the coming flight would forever change and shape my perspective of how I see the…
