When my girlfriend tells me she’s hungry I already know this is going to be a challenge, I’ll name every restaurant in a 20-mile radius and she never picks any of the options. No matter what I try to maintain my composure and allow her to decide, this shows that I’m empathic to her hunger and mood swings. Listening to your mate shows signs of being empathic, when someone is having a rough day all they want is for someone to listen and comfort them. This allows them to get all their frustrations out and go back to that place of balance, “Most complementary behaviors are actually similar actions; people who are warm and agreeable, for instance are happiest when they are met with warmth and good humor in return” (Rowland, 2015).
