In The Odyssey, Odysseus and his comrades begin their voyage home after the Trojan War. On the way back Odysseus aggrieved the gods by saying he conquered the trojans without the gods guidance. Irated, the gods wanted to teach Odysseus a lesson about the sun of pride, and how it is imperative to be humble. Due to his high ego, the gods get more aggravated and Odysseus discipline continues. Odesyus was finally condoned once he realized the importance of staying humble. I believe the most significant events devised by the gods to teach Odysseus the importance of being humble are when Odysseus took all the credit for defeating the cyclops, when he didn't warn his men about their deaths, and when poseidon leaves him in the sea to
