It doesn't matter if you live in the United States or not. The point is to be grateful that you have food on your shelves and in your refrigerator! You'll find that as you begin to be happier and more satisfied with what you do have. This in turn gives you a more positive outlook on life's events; even if apparent negative this happen in your life. Gratitude positively affects one's emotions and actions. Being thankful generally increases positive emotions such as happiness and lessens negative emotions such as vainness. In Romans 1:21, the apostle Paul wrote that those who did not share gratitude towards God became vain and deluded; in other words, ingratitude makes for negative feelings. The act of being grateful builds positive feelings, such as that in Luke 17:11-19, where written is the Samaritan giving thanks to Jesus for curing his leprosy. In short, out of the ten healed leprous men, only the Samaritan had the decency to thank Jesus with utter gratitude for His merciful act.…

Now, as I realize this I wonder if I am really grateful. And as I do know I am, do I show it? We take so many things for granted like the fact that I can wake up and eat a bowl of cereal and not worry about there not being food for me to eat, that we don’t see how much others would desire it and how to them we have a life of luxury. Throughout my life I have learned this lesson, to be grateful is something I should be at all times and my first trip to Mexico was something I’ll never forget for it taught me something I'll carry on in life…

I strive to always be conscious of good things that happen for me and to always make others aware of my thankfulness. This strength is one I find to be beneficial in good and bad situations, as it makes the good situations better and it helps me to see that even in the bad situations I am still blessed. I do my best to make sure my friends and family are always aware of how grateful I am for them and the love they bring into my life. This is a strength I rely on greatly, especially now as I have moved ten hours away from my entire family, it is even more important that they understand how grateful I am for them.
