Although people living in the United States have a lot of resources, currency, and are fairly progressive when it comes to social accomplishments, the citizens do not seem proud of the country they live in. In fact, most citizens seem to hate their location or the things going on around them in their country. It seems that you do not need to have a high income or good social progression to take pride in your country.

Haiti was the first black nation in the world, made up of free slaves, a country of a diverse and accomplished background. Although their current state isn’t that of the glory it had used to be to the citizens, they still encompass hope. Haiti is still a symbol of freedom, as a whole, and that is likely why it’s citizens are so proud of their location and country.
As a United States citizen I can recognize the faults in my country, but there are many things I am proud of as well. I’m proud of the fact that we rose from nearly nothing into being who we are today. I’m proud that we have such an accomplished background, fighting wars and building our government and financial systems to the way they are now. Nevertheless, I admit we have many faults, but I take pride in the strides our country is taking to be accepting.
In conclusion, to be prideful in one’s country is a stance taken on and defined entirely by the citizen. Most Haitians take a lot of pride in their country of origin, and that is not a thing to be shamed. Although their nation is very poor, they have many reasons to be proud of it, and need not support or idolize the things happening at current.
