Watching the videos on the learning to learn taught me a lot not only about what I was doing wrong but also how these things in the videos would be able to help me in my future classroom. Along with making myself more successful with some of the ideas and skills that were presented in the videos I learned that there are many things that I can teach my students, that I was never taught, that will help make them successful in their school and personal careers. One of the biggest aspects from the video that I found that would make a difference in teaching my future students would be how your mindset affects how you learn and how you teach. In order to be a successful teacher you should have a positive mindset that encourages other people. I always grew up with teachers who had positive mindsets/attitudes that made school an amazing experience for me and made me want to become a teacher so I could positively affect students like my teachers did me. I feel that having a positive mindset will help me encourage and motivate my students to want to learn and also help them learn effectively. As the videos talked about we all have the power to learn regardless of our backgrounds and because people come from all different place educators need to be aware of that and it will …show more content…
I, like many other people have a hard time with procrastinating and after trying the Pomodoro method I really like the idea. I think that it would be a good method to teach my students because I was never taught how to work with procrastination except just do it. I think that giving students this method would help immensely because it would help them work more efficiently but also make sure that they are able to take a break and still have their mind working with the ideas. I think that teaching my students the Pomodoro method would be very beneficial to their

The two articles are similar in that they both discuss power. Halasz and Kaufman’s article talks about the theory of cultural capital and symbolic violence. Which emphasizes that those with the most knowledge have the most power. This is similar to Gebhard’s article as the Canadian government were the ones with knowledge and power when they decided to remove Aboriginal peoples from their homes and communities and send them to residential schools. This process of educating Aboriginals according to Euro-Canadian ideals which was discussed in the article is similar to the theory of rationalization and McDonaldization.…

I really enjoyed watching the video. The purpose of John Sinnett 's was that he wanted his students to see that he was engaged just as the students were. From the video, we can see that John is very passionate about his kindergarten students. During his lesson, he gets down on the carpet on the same level as his student to make them feel engaged. This is something that is very important because students are so to teachers telling what to do.…

Without it, the victim mindset starts up, which could lead to ideas such as: “I don’t need to try because I am a bad learner” Or “I don’t need to show up because it is stupid.” A positive mindset, mixed with always looking for the best outcome is what leads to success. Beyond school, this life rule can be applied anywhere. Work, relationships, the possibilities are endless. Thinking for solutions keep the mind focus and goal driven, while at the same time keeping the body ready and willing to overcome any obstacle as they…

One area that I believe I was successful in was in regards to competency 3.3, 3.8 and 3.12. While caring for a client who had been experiencing chest pain prior to me coming on shift, I ensured that I spoke with my nurse about the changes to expect and how to respond if the changes should arise during my care. I also made sure to take frequent vital signs and use subjective questioning to determine any changes in the status of my client. This allowed me to skillfully implement appropriate nursing care and prepare myself for a situation that could potentially change rather quickly. One area that I have been working on and would like to improve upon is developing mini DM assignments with each client that I take into my care.…

The ten given tips mentioned in the video all seemed to be very effective ones to implement in the classroom if done correctly. Classroom management is crucial, and can definitely make a difference in-between a well ran room and a chaotic classroom. The first tip mentioned was beginning the year tough. I definitely believe teachers have to set the stage of what is expected and stand their ground to instill the procedures and expectations into the students, but this should also not be taken to extreme measures where students are uncomfortable or scared to be in the class. Also, it’s easier for the teacher to set certain procedures such as bathroom signals, attention grabbers, or classroom rules at the beginning of the year so the students know…

This week’s reading, “The Social Construction of Unreality: A Case Study of a Family’s Attribution of Competence to a Severely Retarded Child” by Pollner and McDonald-Wilker, really made me question my entire life and the role that my family has had in my education. I am in my second year at UCLA with a full scholarship for tuition and very minimal loans. Granted I have had some ups and downs with my GPA, I have overall been managing my grades. As a student, you can say I have been quite successful.…

Self reflection is the mental process that acquires knowledge and understanding through thoughts and experience which helps encourage self awareness. This essay focuses on assessing my objectives and how I have developed my skills from the beginning of this semester until now. At the start of semester A, I wasn’t confident in preparing for the skills sessions and workshops. I wasn 't always able to find the correct answers to the workshop questions set which made it relatively difficult for me to participate in lectures despite finding myself at the library every other day. I began by listening to knowledge based lectures online and making notes alongside the recommended reading given by my lecturers or the module guide.…
