Life as a student-athlete is not what it seems. The athlete feels as if there is not enough time in the day to complete all the tasks required of them. Student-athletes spend seven and a half hours in school just like everyone else, but in addition to that, we have another hour and a half of working out, which includes lifting weights and running sprints. After workouts, the athlete has three or more hours of practice which may last longer. Immediately after we get home, we hop in the tub to take a much-needed shower and then devour a hot meal as soon as possible. We then have to complete the workload of homework that our teachers assign to us. Also, we have to keep our parents happy by spending quality with them. On gamedays, sports consume even more of an athlete's time. We have three to four games a week in which we do not arrive home until 10 p.m., and after away games, depending on the location, we sometimes do not arrive home until after midnight. Only student-athletes truly understand how difficult it is to study on a bumpy bus after just competing in an energy-draining three-hour game. Some might say student-athletes have an easy offseason, which we can only dream of. Off for summer break? We do not know what that is like. Spring Break? Never heard of it. Thanksgiving break?
