He was happily living in the hills of Andalusian with his family if he chooses to become a priest than he might be happy and without any fear living in the hills of Andalusian with his family, but he listened to his heart and his hearts wants to travel the world and discover the treasure he dreamed for. Since his childhood he had wanted to know the world, and this was much more important to him than knowing God and learning about the man’s sins. We can relate the story of Santiago with the sacrifice that Lord Gautama Buddha did , he sacrificed with his luxurious life to become a monk and followed his dreams, he listened to his heart his father wants him to become the king of the state but he choose life which was full of sufferings and sacrificing . He became the founder of great religion ‘Buddhism’ that is the second most followed religion. If Gautama Buddha has not listened to his heart great religion Buddhism never existed for us. Great things come from heart. Paulo Coelho in his writing presents the issue of decision making by the main character Santiago, he experiences the dilemma to overcome the dilemma and Santiago have to make choices between what his parents want and what he want to do . Unlike many people who prefer just to follow the crowd, Santiago have to take care full step because his mistake will drag him one step back from his destination and one right step will lead him towards his destination and one wrong step will similarly pull him back . Santiago does not pay attention on the decision of the crowd or something which was decided for him by other. This indicates that his subjectivity plays important role in decision making and is not owning decision made by others for him .
