Why I Want To Be A Resident Advisor Essay

Two main reasons contribute to why I would love to become a Resident Advisor. To help make campus housing fun and safe is the first reason. Students spend majority of their time in college inside the residence halls. I want to be able to show students that he/ or she can do more than just sleep here. RSA and other RA’s provide many fun events to the students and I would love to a part of planning those fun events. In addition, I would like to show students that he or she does not have to party or drink in order to have fun, but he or she can have safe fun right inside their home. The second reason I would like to become a Resident Advisor is for the experience. Ultimately in my golden years, I would like to become a dean or chancellor of a college in my golden years. Community to me means two main things. The first thing community means to me is unity. A community should be unified and able to depend on each other. Residents of a community should be able to comfortably talk to their neighbors, or at least be able to get to know them. Being unified makes the entire environment of a community friendly, dependable, and peaceful. The second thing community means to me is trustworthy. Students coming from different areas of the world and being thrown in housing together can be difficult and hard to trust each other. Issues and challenges can arise daily. “A group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.” That is the definition of the word community. The Outsiders, a novel by S.E. Hinton, was based on a setting of a divided community consisting of the Socs, the rich Westside kids, and the Greasers, the poorer Eastside kids, usually deemed for trouble. The problem: they can’t put their differences aside, and realize they are both human. They just can’t crack the code on equality.…

Community is important to me. I grew up in a small town where you knew your neighbors, and chances were that you lived down the street from at least one of your teachers. Where every summer Saturday, the entire block would meet in somebody’s backyard- a fire would be lit, and all of us kids would roast marshmallows and hotdogs, and play on the wooden swing-set, playing out stories and adventures. My community wasn’t just a place where I lived and went to school- it was a family.…

My residential community has had a great impact on me. The community provides an ideal atmosphere to meet a variety of people. Not only does the residential community promote diversity and inclusion, but it has also granted me the unique opportunity of leading in a college atmosphere. After arriving at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I started spending most of my time in the lobby because my room did not have air conditioning. While in the lobby, I met a racially and geographically diverse group of people.…

A motto is a motivational principle that drives one to achieve their own goal. It basically consists of short words that give a gigantic meaning to the person. In the Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the society uses “Community, Identity, Stability” as their motto. I find that this motto is quite interesting because all those three words have similar rhymes at the end. There are several ways shown in the novel on how the society lives based on the motto.…

When I think of community, I think of something much more relevant to me as a teenager. I think about my school and the sense of community we have at Long Reach. The longer I’ve been there the more this sense of community and togetherness has grown on me, even through challenging times that faced us all. Supporting Point: When an Atholton student posted a blackface picture, frustration erupted through the halls of our school. This anger is not misplaced, it’s 2016 and we still have to deal with homages to minstrel shows of the 19th and 20th centuries?…
