How To Be A Good Learner Analysis

Improved Essays
A student needs quite a few skills to be a good learner. You can 't just show up in class hear a few words and expect to truly deeply learn the material. That being said, What do you need to be a good learner? Well out of the examples given there are a few that i believe are the most important. Motivation and a willingness to work and learn is so crucial in the learning process. It should be an obvious one but a lot of people tend to miss this simple step, Which in turn will stunt the learners progression in the subject. Confidence To ask questions is just as important as motivation. If you don 't feel comfortable to ask your teacher a question you could be learning the lesson all wrong. Imagine if you thought centimeters were longer than inches. You weren’t sure which the teacher said was longer but you were too afraid to ask. Now who knows how long you’ll believe the false information just because you didn 't want to ask. Don 't be scared to ask it’s what the teacher is there for. The third one that i find the most important is good study habits. Now this comes after the first two and it’s all up to you. No one else is in charge of how you study. So you have to keep on top of it and make sure you are …show more content…
I really enjoyed learning in all different ways. Then in high school it was usually just auditory learning and for most of my classes it was hard to learn using just my ears. However when i did need to learn something i went back and acted it out. I would make a song with all the names of the bones in our body. I also would work out assigning jumping jacks to certain vocab words and push ups to others. Also i’d play a board game and if i lost i had to practice certain words. Slowly picking up the information by associating it with something I enjoyed and already understood. Which really allowed me to learn the things i needed

For four days (January 17th to 20th), University of Toronto’s Trinity College Dramatic Society (TCDS) had performed Paula Vogel’s 1997 play How I Learned to Drive. The play revolves around Li’l Bit who reflects on her relationship with Uncle Peck, while learning the rules of the road. Through a retrospective narrative, Li’l Bit tells how learning to drive became a sexual motive for Uncle Peck. At the same time, Li’l Bit acknowledges the consequences of her actions, which affects her future. While being a student-run production, TCDS had met with great exceptions regarding the ability to produce and perform a play that focuses on a sexual abuse.…

Both Sherman Alexie’s “Superman and Me” and Eudora Welty’s “Clamorous to Learn” share their experiences and beliefs about how literacy impacted them. “Clamorous to Learn” has a much less “formal” tone compared to “Superman and Me”. While both authors use style elements in their excerpts to connect to the audience in an emotional way “Clamorous to Learn” uses antimetables and metaphors while “Superman and Me” uses repetition. Sherman Alexie narrates the memories he has as child reading, and how literature influenced him to become a writer to carry on what he learned to his audience. In paragraph seven, he says “I read the books I borrowed from the library.…

Over the course of the last few centuries, Christianity has been a driving force in the development of western culture. From igniting Crusades in the Middle Ages to introducing new words to the English vocabulary, the Christian religion has had a considerable influence on every aspect of the western culture known today; arguably, the arts and literature specifically were the most heavily impelled by Christianity. As Thomas C. Foster states in his book How to Read Like a Professor, writers of all forms of media are at least aware of the stories of the Bible, and use them in their works, whether it be a story structure or the names of people in biblical anecdotes. Because of this, it is interesting to notice that most classic novels (and even present works) use the idea of Jesus, or the Holy Spirit, in their narratives to create new yet familiar characters. Nathaniel Hawthorne…

Out of all 5 of my talents, Learner describes me the best. As cliché as it may sound, I really have a passion for learning. But my passion for learning extends far past just the usual sitting in class taking notes, or the usual memorization of subjects, instead it really reaches out to deeper depths where I really seek to master everything that is put into my head. I am not okay with only touching base on subjects or barely treading the surface of topics, rather I have to really dive into the text and pay close attention to all the details in order for me to grasp what is going on.…

Frederick Douglass once said “Once you learn to read, you will be forever free”, and in my specific case, I find that statement to be extremely true. Since I was a young child, I loved to read and sometimes I even tried to write little songs or stories, even if they weren’t good. The thing is though, that since then, a lot has changed. Books have changed, the people who write have changed, the way people in general look at literacy has changed and most of all, I have changed. Therefore I find it necessary to tell you all about my life as a reader/writer through a personal narrative all about my processes, habits, events, and audiences, that influence me to be the person I am today.…
