Becoming a Health professional goes beyond learning the bulk knowledge of what you practice. Whether it be pharmacy, dentistry, or oncology, every healthcare provider must learn the respect and special care needed for every circumstance. One major takeaway I have gotten from Patient Focus care is the special attention to religion when practicing. Every religion has different beliefs on medicine, death, and medical practices used to correct medical conditions. I have multiple Jewish and Muslim friends who have consumed foods that they were not supposed to. Likewise, I myself would never question withholding the administering of life support for a loved one as other Roman Catholics might. Therefore, I can apprehend the importance of being respectful to other religious groups and their decisions in their healthcare. I also believe that it shows the importance of learning what your patients do and do not believe in and forming a proper health plan for them. Also, by learning and respecting a patient culture you are not only showing your respect, but also that you care for them at a personal level, this shows your professionalism and will give you a better image in the eyes of others.
