This is a bad message to communicate because it teaches the devaluation of women to the audience, and boys learn that they are superior to girls.
The message conveyed to girls in “Snow White” is that being the most beautiful is of utmost importance in finding a man so that they as females can be happy. When Snow White was living in the forest, Snow White’s stepmother, the queen, repeatedly asked the mirror on the wall who was the most beautiful in the land but, “as long as [the queen] was not the most beautiful in the entire land her envy would give her no rest” (Grimm). The queen’s envy of Snow White’s beauty caused her to commit vicious acts toward Snow White, including attempted murder. The queen first tried to kill her by lacing a dress tightly, the second time she poisoned a comb, and finally gave Snow White a poisoned apple which got launched in Snow White’s throat. Each attempt did not work because the dwarves came home and revived Snow White, except they were unsuccessful the last time.
