Artificial Adversity Examples

I feel like people underestimate themselves in this current day and age. People, when faced with adversity, will often buckle under their own predisposition that they will certainly fail, or be incapable of overcoming whatever obstacle is at the forefront of themselves. One way I try to keep myself from falling into that mindset is by trying to constantly learn new talents. Because more than likely it is going to be very difficult at first, therefore you create artificial adversity, but when you finally start to learn and progress at whatever you’re trying to learn you’ll become more confident at pushing through difficulty. My greatest example of this is the talent that defined me quite a bit in the FHS music program, beatboxing.

The kick drum was simplified for me as the letter B. the hi hat would become the letter T, and I hope you can figure out what sound the K snare is related to. If not, its the letter K. I sounded like utter horse feces when I first started. My parents told me to be quiet in very impolite ways and people at school followed suite. This was my first obstacle I encountered on my beatboxing journey. Practicing in peace. I could only practice in the confinements of my room or when my parents were out eating dinner. No one wanted to hear it, and frankly neither did I, but I kept making those stupid noises until one day my mom yelled at me to turn the music down. There was no music playing. That when I realized that she thought that the sounds being made were music, not some jumbled mess of spit and frequencies coming from my mouth.
