Do we follow the leadership gurus encouraging us to reach for the stars? It would appear logical to dream big if we are going to dream. I saw a t-shirt that would sum up this school of thought, “If you can’t run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.” There is another shirt that implies the view never changes unless you are the lead dog. Do we find ourselves wanting to bless others, but not sure what to do? Do we allow our resources to limit our ability to obey God? We all have some type of natural talent. It is not to say that God will not use these natural abilities to bring him glory and honor, but these strengths in our life could lead us to think we have the ability to succeed without God’s intervention. Spiritual gifts are not your character traits, titles, or positions. Your spiritual gifting can lead to titles or positions within Judea, Jerusalem, and the uttermost parts of the Earth. 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 identify the gifts as: wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Similar lists appear in Ephesians 4:7-13 and Romans 12:3-8 giving us approximately 24 scripture recorded Gifts of the Spirit. Serving in the area of your gifting will allow you to be a part of a ministry instead of a part of a job. We get tired of jobs and run out of energy, but a ministry focus will give us energy to complete the task. Your personality coupled with your spiritual gifts will help reveal a fulfilling path to your destiny. People will see the joy of the Lord upon us as we serve and be drawn to the Jesus in us. We could easily say, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born again and the day you realize God has a plan for your life. While God’s plan for our life is not revealed in a day, we can discover our path of purpose and fulfil it daily. According to a recent spiritual test, my top three spiritual gifts are prophecy, exhortation, and teaching. As I look at these three spiritual gifts, God has revealed to me that I am his PET. My new acronym for my life purpose is contained in this word. I always knew that I was special to Him. God has a way of making you feel loved in the midst of your trail or tribulation. Whether on the top of a mountain or low in the valley, we are never separated from His love (Romans 8:38-39).
