Design principles not only put order in artist work, but also in the lives of everyday people as well. Balance is probably the principle that most people want in the lives. Everyone wants to strive for a symmetric (equal on all sides) type of life. Balance helps to make sure a person doesn’t take on too much, as in a job, and have their home life suffer because they are being pulled to responsibility more than the other. Another principle we like to keep in order throughout of lives is variety and unity. People like and need variety and unity in their lives to keep things from getting boring, or to keep them busy.
