C.E. Ayers once said, “A little inaccuracy saves a world of explanation.” Ayers brings up an interesting point about telling the truth. There are some occasions on which it is better to lie, such as when it saves lives, when it is kinder, and when it would cause unnecessary harm. One occasion when it is appropriate to lie is when it saves lives. History is brimming with examples of lies saving lives. One of the most famous is when brave individuals in Nazi Germany lied to get Jews to safety. Corrie ten Boom, a Dutch Christian, risked her life and lied to Nazi officers so she could get endangered Jews to safety.
