The school social work intern will address the reasons why the students are participating in the group. In addition, the school social work intern will use this session to learn about the students. A worksheet asking the students questions about themselves will be distributed for the students to complete. The school social work intern will keep these worksheets in the student’s file. This activity serves as an opportunity for the school social work intern to obtain more information about the participants and uncover any unexpected problems they may encounter, or reasons they may experience chronic absences. By having this information the school social work intern can tailor activities based on the student’s needs and assist them in keeping their attention focused on the subject at hand. Following these introductory activities, the school social work intern will ask the students to provide ten reasons why they enjoy coming to school. The students will have a worksheet in front of them as a guide, however, this will be a group discussion. This will give the students an opportunity to examine their motivations and focus not only on the academic importance of attending school regularly but the other positive aspects involved; i.e. making friends, joining clubs,
