We meet once a month. My mother also councils the young parents who are new to the struggle with there child. As well, I am helping at a local church a young boy who has heavy sensory skill disorder combined with Asperger’s Syndrome. My Campaign will be more focused on the parents and how they can learn to cope with there difficulties they experience at home. If I could say anything to my mom back then when I had a hard time expressing myself I would say, “Mom I’m confused, and scared and isolated. I’m sorry for all the trouble I have caused, and I’m trying to do better. Be patient with me and know that I love you.” So the parents should know that they should be considerate to treat there child as a blessing and not as a burden. When my Mom was going through a rough patch dealing with me, she found a website on the Internet that was created by two young men who had Asperger’s syndrome. The website is called Asperger’s Experts. Their slogan is “Take it From Us We’ve Lived it.” They really express to the parents how it feels to have Asperger’s syndrome. The key point that they hit off at is that, the first step into growing into a mature citizen of the world is to first acknowledge there is a problem. There is a thing with Asperger’s syndrome that with the first initial step the person is in defense mode. It is very sad to see a person who has Asperger’s syndrome who is not aware of the disorder. Most of the time they never grow as a person, because they are not aware of the issue. Defense mode is the process where the Child with Asperger’s syndrome put up social barriers that are called walls. For them to break out of this they have to first need a space to calm down so they can let their walls down. What helped me to decompress is to have a quiet area in my house such as my room were I could think about my day. While they are learning how to decompress the world
