Jones was stated to believe that photography should not be considered as an art because it was a waste of space. “A photograph in a gallery is a flat, soulless, superficial substitute for painting.” While on the opposing viewpoint, Sean O’Hagan believes that it is an art because “Photography is the art of real life – however, manipulated. And real life creates true art.” Photography has developed throughout the past years, and because this debate happened in 2014 doesn’t make it any less of an issue to determine.
