ENG 112, alongside a piece I wrote for my Independent Studies course. Each paper I wrote this semester traveled through the discovery of argumentative writing and is a demonstration of my improvement in separate areas.
The first paper written this semester was the argumentative paper on higher education.
Out of the given topics I chose to write on higher education due to its relevance to my current life. Hamrick 3 struggled through Hamlet, I found that there indeed was, and decided to write an analysis on female characters being used as symbols for female sexuality in Hamlet.
While writing my analysis “’Frailty, thy name is woman!’” I certainly found myself learning to properly develop a point of view in my writing. Previously and currently, I struggle to properly develop just one idea while writing. Oftentimes I have a broad category, and I attempt to connect several different relating ideas to one another as I write. While I started this paper doing just that, as I continued writing and organizing and rewriting I found myself forming one concrete idea that I was attempting to push forward in establishing Queen Gertrude and Ophelia as symbols for female sexuality. Rather than them being representative of just that, I wanted to prove that Shakespeare used them as such to say that they are not at fault for the wrongs in
