Can Impressions Be Deceptive?

APPEARANCES CAN BE DECEPTIVE!
“We often hear that we can learn much about someone or something just by casual observation. We are not required to look beneath the surface or to question how something seems. In fact, we are urged to trust our impressions, often our first impressions, of how a person or a situation seems to be. Yet appearances can be misleading. What “seems” isn’t always what is.”
Assignment: Is the way something seems to be not always the same as it actually is?
Don’t get deceived by appearances:
There is a phrase that goes on something like: APPEARANCES CAN BE DECEPTIVE. So even though we generally form our first impressions based on appearance, still if we really want to gauge the actual or exact value of some person or situation,

So, avoid relying on first impressions, instead, rely on analysis as well as investigation, where you leave nothing to chance.
CONTRAST IN LIVES OF MILLIONAIRES:
Therefore, while first impressions can be useful for generalizations, they are a poor tool to use for identifying something specific.
In almost every field of life, there are instances where how a person or situation appears to be is NOT how they actually are. Take a look at the lifestyle of millionaires.
Though majority of millionaires lead a comfortable lifestyle marked by owning a luxurious home in suburbs, driving a sports car, sporting a lavish attire, spending money on other luxury items.
Still there are instances, though they may be few, where millionaires live in 2 bedroom flat, drive a 10 year old, inexpensive car, sport an average attire, plus, instead of spending money, they save & invest it in stocks, bonds, real estate, commodities

WEIGHT LIFTERS VS. BODYBUILDERS:
Another example of how appearances can deceive can be found in the case of bodybuilding versus weight lifting.
As most people know, body builders possess huge muscle mass while maintaining relatively low body fat, in single digits to be precise; whereas, the weightlifters, though they don’t possess huge muscles plus they don’t have that low body fat i.e. they are not as lean as bodybuilders.
Yet, they possess very high level of explosive strength (aka power) as demonstrated by their lifts in Olympics such as snatch as well as clean & jerk while the bodybuilders, though they have aesthetic looks, are actually weak as kittens, when compared with weight lifters regarding explosive strength (aka power).
There are many things which ACTUALLY are different than what they APPEAR to be:
Therefore, weight lifters with their relatively ordinary physiques, appear to have low strength, less power yet they actually possess high strength, more power, while bodybuilders with their muscular plus ripped physiques, appear to have high strength, more power yet actually possess low strength, less

My economics teacher once told me a revised version of an old cliche. “Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it can provide security, which can help protect your happiness.” This is true, to a large extent. Happiness in life stems from one’s relationships with people and experiences, something that wealth will not provide. That said, having enough in the bank to not have to worry and stress about paying bills and basic expenses will go a long way in terms of reducing anxiety and allowing time to find a true source of happiness.…

Bodybuilding is only working on muscle mass, and working on physique and total body congruence. Strongmen only work on being strong. Their jobs are to lift heavy things, and the only way they can do this is by becoming heavy themselves. Strongman diets are very intense, totalling close to 5,000 calories a day. In order for bodybuilders to have the “cut” look that they love they need to limit their calorie intakes during the week.…

In this paper, I will be discussing the popular deceiver argument, and Jonathan Vogel’s response to it. In his article, Vogel describes the deceiver argument and talks the reader through what it is and what it is trying to explain. After he does this, Vogel then goes on to reject the deceiver argument, claiming that premise two of the argument is false. The responses that have been put forth are then discussed by Vogel, most likely trying to come up with a response he deems worthy of being the best response to the deceiver argument. After Vogel finds his response of choice, he goes on to briefly explain it.…

If Alex sets his mind to it and tries to improve his skills such as: hitting, catching and running, he will be much closer to his goal than if he didn't practice.…
