Animals in Medical Testing “Nearly every medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has resulted directly from research using animals,” states the California Biomedical Research Association. Animal testing is important and necessary for advancing medical research. Additionally, animals that have been used in medical testing have directly influenced the discoveries of many beneficial treatments vital for maintaining human health. Throughout the past, influential figures, such as Aristotle, Erasistratus, and Galen have studied animals, in order to develop science and make scientific discoveries. Recently, questions have been raised about the ethicality of performing testing on animals.…

Animal research has aided in the advancement of research done in the medical field. Animal research has helped scientists better understand treatment options when it comes to cancer, HIV/AIDS, heart disease/stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Hepatitis C, birth defects, epilepsy, spinal cord injuries, and cystic fibrosis. Despite the controversy of testing on animals, I do think that testing on animals is beneficial in the advancement in the health of humans. However, it is necessary that within animal research scientists follow strict ethical guidelines making sure that all testing on animals is justified in bettering humans, and that all animals are treated in a humane way. Following are examples of how animal testing has bettered the medical field by helping researchers better understand different diseases and effective treatment options.…

Animal experimentation refers to a biomedical research method that is based on the studying live animals. Chemical substances deemed as heavily poisonous for humans are used in the animal tissues as reliable models for human beings. However, in reality, every species is different b terms of their immunology, physiology, gene expression or anatomy, meaning that each animal can only be its own model. In many ways, animal experimentation causes harm to human beings. For one, new chemical substances that perhaps have not been screened properly are used in human, but as a result of natural basic methodical errors they put the lives of human at risk occupied by diligence in response rates by every organism.…

Also, ¨Animals are used to learn more about living things and about the illnesses that afflict human beings and other animals¨(Science, Engineering, Medicine 4). Although this may be true, ¨92% of experimental drugs that are safe and effective in animals fail in human clinical trials because they are too dangerous or don’t work¨ (DoSomething.org). Even so, ¨By studying animals, it is possible to obtain information that cannot be learned in any other way¨ (Science, Engineering, Medicine 4). Despite, studying animals, ¨Labs that use mice, rats, birds, reptiles and amphibians are exempted from the minimal protections under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA)¨…

Animal Experimentation Animal experimentation has been around for many centuries. Humans perform these experiments on all species of animals to find different effect of a product it could have on a human. Three advantages in particular advantages are, it helps scientists gain a better understanding for cures of different diseases, this practice makes a vital advance in medicine, and for the expense of treatments and cures animals should not have rights when it comes to research. Although there are many advantages to animal experimentation, there are also disadvantages which include, there is no benefit for the humans, it is cruel, and is dangerous for humans to be treated only after a trial on animals. Well, the main point when utilizing animals in any experimentation is determining the harm or the suffering the animals might incur. This is to say, one should try by all means to estimate or weigh the suffering the animals might get. So, by so saying, there have to be some conditions in using the animals in any experimentation like, if it is agreed that animals can be used in experimentations, then strictly their (animals) suffering should be minimized. Then it would reach or be preferable for animals to be utilized in experimentations. One other point is the matter of harm versus benefit.…
