Earth would be a very different place if humans were the only inhabitants. Insulin to treat diabetes is extracted from horses if not artificially produced (“Importance of Animals”). Animals are used for research, clothing, food, decorations, protection, and companionship. Plants give off the oxygen people breath and are the ultimate source of food for animals, as well as providing medicines and shelter. Without plants and animals, humans could not survive, yet they continue to destroy habitats, kill for clothing industries, and over-hunt.
