Let me expand on the silly reason first, why I am applying to Johnson. The Office, one of my all-time favorite TV show and the character Andy Bernard, who went to Cornell. It is hard to explain, but I will give it a try. The character Andy Bernard is portrayed in the show as someone who does not get the social cue very well but works harder than anyone else. In “The Company Man”, Ellen Goodman shows her blatantly annoyed attitude toward Phil in the way lives and the way he priorities things. Goodman shows this attitude by using tone, by making remarks to the story, and irony, to be obvious about her bitter attitude with Phil. All through the passage Goodman uses a sense of bitterness as an overall tone to describe her thoughts of Phil. For example Goodman talks around line 24 about how all Phil ate was egg salad sandwiches and about how he “of course, overweight by 20 or 25 pounds” this sets up the passive aggressive tone for the rest of the passage. Later in the author again game after Phil’s weight, the way he works, his nervousness, and his “type A, a heart-attack natural” these all show the annoyance of Goodman’s tone to the way Phil lives his life.…

Before addressing why Pitt is a good choice for me, I would like to review why I am a good choice for Pitt. The University of Pittsburgh values their “talented, diverse and high achieving students”, their “safe and healthy campuses”, their unique balance of “fun and camaraderie with internships and other learning opportunities outside the classroom”, and their focus on “developing students into global citizens” (University of Pittsburgh webpage, ‘Prospective Students’). I am a well-rounded student who places priority upon academics, as well as a broad array of performing arts extracurricular activities, over 300 hours of community service, several job experiences and religious organizations. I agree with what Andy Davidson says in his Google interview—you never understand something until you understand it; writing it sounds weird but saying it aloud makes it make more sense. Insight is something that you have probably experienced prior but it has always felt wrong until your mind realized that it is right, you just never saw it before. The insight founded by Pedigree is spot on when they say “dogs are good for people because their innocence helps us reconnect with our own”. I 100% agree with you when you say once you see a dog, you get all giddy inside like a child on Christmas. This insight, to me, was thought of but I never processed it and came to terms with it.…
