• If we find our campaign is starting off well, then we can paint the cannon as a way to advertise our project and to get the maximum amount of people talking about ugly produce waste. As a result, we hope people influence each other to make better choices about produce

In science, I’ve been taught to go about a problem in a logical order and in a step by step fashion while keeping a level head. I have applied this skill in a number of situations through-out the semester where it has helped the group to think a step of the project through all the way before jumping into it. For example, I had brought up the idea of doing a parody Dove Beauty campaign video which everyone seemed to love. While I was thinking small scale with one fruit or vegetable, the group got excited and started thinking of bigger ideas. It got to the point where I withdrew myself from the conversation and wrote a few questions about the filming process, location, and props. I then started asking my team about the details of the project, but after a few questions we agreed we didn’t have the props, location or technological resources to do this elaborate video in the timeframe we had. In the end, we dropped the idea and agreed to focus more on the project and presentation. Despite the failed launch of this video, the situation worked out in a positive manner as my sequential thinking saved us possibly hours of work on a video that would have failed. I f I hadn’t gone though the idea, step by step, with a level head, we might have tried to go through with the video to have it fall apart after hours of planning, and filming. To speak up like this took a lot of courage for me, but it worked out for the

I also had at times a few people standing around doing nothing because I couldn’t think of things they could do fast enough. I feel that my nervous energy made my memory a bit slower and I could have avoided that by making a to-do list instead of relying only on memory. With a to-do list I could give people standing around a job, whether it be building another part of the set or preparing for the next and the time that I spent trying to remember what was next in the process would be gone making it quicker for everybody. Communicating confidently to a team is also a must to enforce assertiveness and also builds confidence in your team in you. To be able to communicate with assertiveness one must know what they are doing, or at least, pretend to know what they are doing (Gail, 2013, pg.…

In previous assessments and assignments I mentioned that there were some tasks of the job that I have never done and because of the lack of training, I tend to stress out about the job at hand and go into shut-down mode. However, because I allowed myself time to prepare early, I did research on the matter prior to attempting the task the next week. Though this did not completely alleviate my angst, I did feel a bit more confident that I could complete the task. Once I finished the task, I allowed myself a moment of intrinsic reward. I actually smiled at the thought of completing something that I have never attempted…

On Monday, I had written a rough draft of the first memo, but when I revisited those thoughts I deleted most of what I had. Essentially, I had already thrown out what I felt it would be easily refutable, so in writing the second memo I was only working with ideas that I felt were well grounded. Looking at the big picture, I suppose it is a good sign if I find it difficult to challenge my core ideas. Would it be more of a challenge to double the length of the initial or disproving memo? Why?…

At this point, we were dropped into the storming stage. We did not have a clear consensus on what specific volunteer activity we would end up participating in, even though the entire goal was to decide on a volunteer activity. To manage the conflict, we focused on our common goal and decided to postpone the decision-making to the next meeting. As unproductive as that sounds, the first meeting helped us navigate how to interact with one another to directly reach a point. Our group climate was very supportive and everyone was willing to communicate with each other and share their ideas.…
