As a young adult I went into the Army and was taught that it is essential to become adaptable to your surroundings. After the service, the worrying came in. I would worry about the bills and how each one is getting paid. I worried about our marriage until it came to an end. I worried about how to take care of the kids and what I was going to do as a single parent. Then one day, as I was taking a hike and praying to God about my troubles, God lifted the worries away. It doesn’t mean that I don’t ever worry about what is going to happen, it just means I understand God is in control and I will be ok. By handing my worries over to God it has me be adaptable to the changing in life. With leadership, it has helped me understand that everything is constantly changing and you can make it better for the team by keeping an open mind or you can make the team miserable and not listen to their ideas and plans. It first starts with leading and building relationship with others. It is about an environment that is created in which people are invited to step up and share leadership. Which gets employees involved in building up the organization. When a leader builds such relationships it shows a firm held belief about the sense of value and equality of their team. Bob Nelson stated “You get the best efforts from others not by lighting a fire beneath them, but by building a fire within”. Some people call me naïve because of the way I care about others. In the Strength Finder 2.0 (2007) it states that I concentrate on what is right about people or situations which actually frees you of the worries and fears that burden so many individuals. I do believe that it is a great character to have because I am always looking for the good in others and by doing so it allows me to step back and let the team to create a positive work environment. It becomes difficult when I have to discipline an employee and give the employee a negative review. I always try to follow a negative review with a positive so the person does not feel as if they are a bad employee but as a person who just needs to work a little harder to complete the task without
