The Importance Of Achieving Honor At Argosy University

Decent Essays
I believe my greatest success was receiving honors at Argosy University. I think this was my greatest achievement because it’s something that’s gets me a little closer to my goals. If it wasn’t for that boost of motivation I received, I don’t believe that I would be as encouraged. I needed the boast so I can stay positive and stay on top of what is most important. An achievement like that takes hard work and when I saw it pay off, it made me so happy. That achievement made me want to work harder than ever! The reason I put this achievement beyond the rest is because it’s something that will literally get me closer to my dreams. I knew the best route to go was education from the start because credentials are usually the most important these

The Bowdoin College Academic Honor and Social Code is a thorough and respectable code of ethics that I feel all Bowdoin students should try their best to abide by. While reading the Academic and Social Code during orientation and moments ago, I noticed that a lot of the elements in this communal agreement involve a degree of trust. The College trusts its students to live righteously while simultaneously students trust the College to provide an environment in which it is possible to embody the expectations set for them. With each set of rules however, comes areas of disagreement and discord. In the Academic Honor Code, section 3, paragraph 3, it states, "Plagiarism involves the intentional or unintentional use of...".…

Not only did the selection of texts in the honors curriculum expertly display many different kinds of honor and the way they may be achieved but also provided us with some insight as to where the liberal education system we participate in originated from. We begin to gain a deeper understanding of education in earlier times through The Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci, here we are introduced to the “prevailing scholastic classification of the human knowledge according to which the seven Liberal Arts represented the highest form of human effort” (Di Vinci, 193). This list of classification brings light to the particular topics that were the most valued forms of learning in that early days of the renaissance. “They included grammar, rhetoric,…

Is the honor code working efficiently in high schools and colleges across the country? Board members and staff are questioning if students are more likely to respect an honor code if it’s pushed upon them or not. An honor code needs as much students involvement as it can receive, and is needed in many schools across the country, but it must be introduced and explained in the right way. An honor code needs to be instilled in universities and high schools, one that students respect by informing them of the risks when breaking the honor code, seeing what their students values on honesty are, and showing them the rewards and positives the honor code would bring.…

Many schools, colleges and universities have honor codes to ellicit the best from their students and prevent them from academic dishonesty. Through the act of penalizing those of academic dishonesty, integrity becomes a strong suit for the students relying on their own brains for knowledge. At Jacksonville High, my school, there is an implied honor system, but it isn’t efficiently upheld by the faculty and students. In all, Jacksonville should establish an honor code that relies on the faculty’s supervision due to dishonesty among students and their moral beliefs. In essence, the faculty should make it imperative to watch its students for plagarism.…

The establishment or maintenance of an honor code in schools is generally a difficult concept to get behind as a member of the student body, however, many positives can appear out of the use of this system to change our schools for the better. The implementation of the honor system benefits students in that it gives them more control over their choices, and allows them to change the social constructs of the school, all while being a malleable framework for honesty in the places of education. First, students may hear the words “honor code” and get the feeling that they are looked down upon and that they are being controlled “behind the scenes” by the adults in the situation.
