The Importance Of A Zombie Outbreak

Improved Essays
A zombie is “a person or reanimated corpse that has been turned into a creature capable of movement but not of rational thought, which feeds on human flesh.” (Oxford) In the event of a zombie outbreak or apocalypse it would be quite difficult for a person to survive, even for a very short period of time. A person would need to take a large number of variables into consideration in order to survive. He or she would need to have a fair amount of equipment, food, shelter, weaponry, and various bits of knowledge if they wanted to live. One of the most important things a person would need in the event of a zombie outbreak would be a well-stocked collection of supplies. The first things a person should have in their supplies would be some form …show more content…
Presumably when a zombie outbreak occurs, the world will have no warning leading up to the event. However, if there were to be some kind of warning, a person should put together a pack containing bottled water and various portions of nonperishable food. A list on the Livestrong website has many great examples nonperishable foods such as: Canned goods, dry goods, and dehydrated foods. Canned goods such as soup, meat, fruit, beans, or vegetables would be very helpful during this kind of situation. While these foods sometimes lack in the taste department, they make up for it but usually lasting for extended periods of time and are easy to fix. Dry goods that would be useful include oats, rice, dry cereal, crackers, and uncooked pasta. These foods would also be simple and fairly quick to prepare. Dehydrated products are used often by campers and would be perfect in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Dehydrated products would be precooked meals that can be eaten as is or heated with hot water. These kinds of meals usually last for long periods of time, some up to a few years. Other foods that would be good for a person to have are as follows: Peanut butter, beef jerky, turkey jerky, dehydrated meat, cookies, fruit snacks, granola bars, small bags of chips, nuts, instant coffee, tea bags, flour, sugar, various condiments, and sports drinks. Other than just stocking up on foods, it would be incredibly useful if a person could grow their own food or even raise some livestock such as pigs and chickens. Being able to produce food would reduce the need to search for things to eat. Another important feature would be to have some way of purifying water found in nature so that it is safe to

The documentary ‘Zombie: Haiti’s Longstanding Tradition’ (Zombie: Haiti’s Longstanding Tradition, 2005) contained information regarding the original Haitian version of Zombies and how they are created. Some other things also featured in this film include how “zombie powder” is made, how people are brought back from the brink of death, and how people are forced to become these “zombies” so that people may use them as slaves. The idea of zombies has been a part of our world since the 8th century. In fact, the word zombie has been derived from zonbi, which was “used in the Louisiana Creole or the Haitian Creole that represents a person who died and was then brought to life without speech or free will,” (Ahmadmad, 2013).…

The Zombie Apocalypse is an event I feel I've been prepped for my entire life. Assuming typical scary movie rules apply: in order to survive I must find a rag tag group of people who are sane as well as very skill at using weapons. To help prevent being that that cliché person that trips, my team and I would raid a shoe store for well fitting, non slip shoes. Next we would wear various layers of coats just in case if we were caught, zombies would struggle to get to our flesh and we would have time escape from their grasp. Next we would travel north and go to a region that was not very populated prior to the apocalypse.…

Method #3: Water Hands down, one of the most important things to tell your friends and family is to stockpile some water. This source seems to be unbiased and scholarly, however, whenever the CDC references a zombie apocalypse the tone is more satirical. Pallatt found this source to be effective when deciding if social media would be the best way to communicate because it states that, “social media use increases during crises and disasters, when some people turn to the Internet and social media to seek or share information or support” (CDC’s Use). On the other hand, the CDC doesn’t show serious concern for the situation since it did not go through the full process a normal campaing would. It describes the campaign for zombie preparedness as, “a product of attention and considered thought, [however,] it did not undergo extended planning with “focus groups,” discussions of “theory,” or a “drawn-out formalized process” (CDC’s Use). Even though only a part of the research was helpful for Pallatt, it probably gave her more accurate information then her last…
