Which would most people prefer? Going out with friends or studying for a big test? This is my biggest attitude change I will need to make throughout my studies. My personality is to enjoy myself. Surround myself with friends and study when I have time, like late at night; except for most of the nights that I fall asleep doing homework. My biggest challenge will be devotion of time. I need to see the big picture and realize that the more work I put in now, the more time I will have to relax when I start my adult life and have a good job that will allow me the luxuries of a laid-back life style. Like I said before, with my learning style, I need to review notes before I go into a lecture. I need to have an idea on what is being presented in order …show more content…
I have a tendency to be able to explain one thing in my own words but just in one way. My one track mind has difficulty explaining things a certain way or grasping things when explained to me in a different way. A “World Class student” would be one that can understand things in multiple ways and be able to break down their own thinking in order to show different kinds of demonstrations. I have always felt awkward on going to a counselor and asking for help with picking out classes because I always thought I knew what I needed and when I went in for help, I was just rambling about a million different things that they didn’t know how to help me. I have never been definite on my exact path so I didn’t think they could help. Little did I know, I’m not the only one? I recently went to a counselor her at SCSU and I asked about the different class I could take in order to stay enrolled here next semester and continue my degree before I transfer, my advisor helped me look for the classes I needed and realized that there are barely any I can take here in order to keep moving forward and have an exact transfer class. This was so helpful and I will definitely be needing to meet with an advisor more often in order to not be taking pointless classes and spending empty money on things that aren’t going to get me any farther in my future. My final barrier is commitment. Students commit to majors and stick with them for the reasons that they love them. I fear failure in commitments so I try to stray from making definite, set in stone, decisions in order to leave wiggle room for failure. However, I need to commit to a major and feel confident in my decision in order to be at peace with my job. This will be the hardest thing for me to do, but I need to commit and look back with no regrets since I know what is best
