Veteran’s Day comes every year, yet some people still do not fully understand what exactly our veterans have done for us. The veterans of the United States have to push themselves to their limits, they have to witness terrible things, and some have to live with the thought that they hurt somebody. When you list all of the things these people have done for our country, you start to gain a much higher respect towards them.
First of all, veterans have to face the physical challenge. At least plenty of them have to. To become a soldier for the country, you have to be in an acceptable physical condition. My uncle has been part of the military, and he has had some of his good friends pass away whilst in battle. It is a very hard thing he has to deal with. Anybody who has to live the memory of losing their colleague deserves to be honored.
However, even as hard as it is to have somebody you know pass on, I would think one of the hardest things, at least for some, is knowing the damage you have caused. As much as you might want to sugarcoat it, the point of war is human versus human. With everything said, in a war you are meant to kill and not be killed. Overall, I personally would not think I would be able to live with the idea of me harming somebody else, or even worse.
Veteran’s Day should be a time where we honor those who have served us. They have accomplished and seen things majority of people couldn’t fully imagine. Finally, I would like to thank all veterans who have served, the sacrifices they have made physically, mentally, socially, and especially emotionally. Hopefully the average person will be able to realize how lucky they are somebody is willing to fight so they do not have
