It is very useful for me to understand my teammates ' opinion and create a better solution for the topic which we

After reading a few chapters of Strengths Quest, I was instructed to participate in the Strengths Finder assessment (Anderson, Clifton, & Schreiner, 2006). This 30 minute assessment was an interesting tool that pointed out my greatest strengths. It also provided a detailed description of what having those strengths mean and examples of how they are prominent in a person 's life. After taking the StrengthsFinder survey, I discovered that my five dominant strengths are empathy, harmony, consistency, relator, and restorative.…

On the other hand, under paternalistic leadership approach none of the employees are provided with enough independence, entire decision is taken by the manager only. However in present time, employees require freedom and they wanted to be a part of firm’s decision making process in order to show their commitment. Firstly I would like to state that my involvement with this project was not typical of the usual contribution I bring to group dynamics. This was due to personal issues and my inability to get to university for all the time tabled sessions. In previous group projects I have taken on more leadership roles for projects and have been in charge of the concepts and general direction of the work produced. However on this project as the team working together was much larger than what I am use to running.…

After completing the campaign for the semester, I have learned that I am better at managing a team than I give myself credit for. At the beginning of the semester, I didn’t have much experience managing other people and was worried about how I would be able to handle it. All in all, I was able to keep the team on track, for the most part, throughout the whole campaign process. I was very happy with how much I was able to get out of people and how hard everyone worked on the campaign. If there is one thing that I could improve on, it would be to be tougher on people who are not doing there share.…

There are areas of development I have come to identify and recognize in myself with the help of my peers and professors. First, communication pattern: “means frequency and quality of the actual ways each group member connects with other group members” (McKinlay & Ross, 2008, p. 35). I need to attain more verbal and non-verbal communication skills, such as learning to give my full physical attention to people. Another area I need to develop more of is my organizational skills; it is important to have good time management skills together with well-developed multitasking, and great attention to detail and follow through when facilitating because this would be of a great assistant to my group members. Based on the dynamic of my group, I identified…

Group projects can be beneficial or detrimental, and group projects are often stereotyped as miserable and stupid. In my past, I’ve done many group projects where I was the only person in the group putting any effort in. I was more than pleased to be in a group that contributed, so I didn’t have to do everything. Our group worked well together, and everyone made the environment fun. Basically, we all chose topics we wanted to go into detail about.…

Reflection Essay 1 This week, I grasped the importance of teamwork. I didn’t recognize how vital it was, and how pooling together our resources would be so crucial to the advancement of our project. For the first session, the ideas we had were dull, to say the least. It was not a fruitful discussion. I attempted to bring some ideas to the fore but my thoughts were instantly shot down.…

I am not surprised at the outcome of the assessment. This style of leading likes to obtain input from the team, they have an effective communication. This helps build self-confidence within the team as well as personally. With all the input from the team the leader will keep them informed on the progress, or any information about achieving the goal (Woodcock, 2001). Participation leadership is a great leadership style that will allow the team and leader to grow and learn new traits and talents.…

When I heard the idea of writing a proposal, in order to get money to improve some part of campus, I was fairly excited and eager to start the assignment. But I soon realized that this assignment would be harder than I had expected. The hardest part for me was trying to figure out something to fix on campus with the allotted $10,000. It became very apparent that this was not a lot of money, and most things would go way over budget in order to be practical and to make a difference. The other hard part of this assignment, was the group work aspect.…
