A Personal Reflection Of My Stress At Michigan State University

A current stressor in my life is moving in to my own apartment with three of my friends. To me this is considered a stressor in my life because last school year I was living at home and going to a community college. While at home I had my laundry done for me, my dinners cooked for me, had my own home computer, had my bathroom and dishes cleaned for me, and did not have to pay for rent. Also my community college was very small, so all of my classes were right by each other. There was also free parking for cars at the campus. At Michigan State University I have to figure out the bus routes from my apartment complex and find out where all of my classes are located. The difficulty of classes at MSU is way more difficult than the classes at my …show more content…
In my situation there may be many solutions because my stress involves many aspects of my life. I may decide to take one plan of action like having someone show me around campus and help me with my classes. After a while, I will pick the next most important idea to me. The last step would be to actually implement my plan of action. During this time I would get a tutor and have someone show me around campus to get use to the environment. That doesn’t mean I ignore everything else like cleaning or cooking in general. I just implement one task at a time. If I am ignoring other things that are leading to major problems then I can be flexible and change my plan of action. Other problem-focused coping ideas that I feel would be extremely helpful is seeking help and improving time management. To seek help I would surround myself with my friends, roommates, and family. Having social support will help increase physiological reactivity to my stressful situation and increase evaluation apprehension. Improving my time management skills will increase with time and experience. To help I could use a planner or a calendar to make sure I don’t forget about important deadlines and to keep on track with academics and the rest of
