February 14, 2016 Abstract:
Training is one of the most important roles that an individual receives in life. Everything that occurs within society and the world as a whole requires training. Training is set out to help improve the skills that someone already have and them receive further knowledge and skills to move forward in their career or just life in general. In the workforce, majority if not all organizations provide some form of training to the individual to further help them learn the variety of skills needed to perform the job duties that are required of them. It is good to have a representative present when teaching certain aspects of the job especially dealing with lawsuits and how they can be avoided and how to deal with a situation if a lawsuit was to come about from another situation. Having an attorney give their experiences and explain what has happened with different employees and cases in which the organization has been sued can help the new employees see where the underlying problems within the organization occur. Nancy Marion (1998) stated that an attorney can benefit the organization by showing the employees that there is support for them as well as the company. According to Skolnick (2011), having an attorney teach certain portions of training also helps the organization keep the law suits down. Attorneys are great to have especially within the law enforcement agency because they are the individuals that keep the organization together from a legal stand point. The attorneys are present to help both the employees and the employer. Law enforcement agencies are sued thousands of times a year just because someone believes their rights were violated and that is when the attorney has to step in and help the officer and the agency clear their names and keep their reputation a float and in good standards with …show more content…
Every case has a different outcome and requires different laws and rules which mean that there can be lessons learned from each case. I would have to agree with Carter (2007) that with an updated policy, the employees and employers can keep improving the agency. Updating policies are beneficial to the agency because the updates can keep the employees informed on what has been going on within the agency or organization that they were not aware of. When policies are updated, the policies set up higher standards, enforce better training, reject previous policies, increase the usage of different policies and maybe even change the image of the agency as a whole (Carter,
