When I am fully present, it allows the students the space and opportunity to learn and be inspired during a small group or one on one session. The best moment of service thus far, has been reading with my students about different ways animals live and are treated. While reading the novels, we had the opportunity to converse and learn about the animals and listen to what others believe and their opinion about the topic. These conversations have been truly inspiring, I have learned so much from them, as they have from me just reading and talking with them. If I was not my best self these conversations may not occur and the students would miss out on an opportunity to learn about something greater than themselves. To be my best self, I must maintain proper self care techniques of sleeping and staying healthy while also doing what is best for my students while in school. This balance entails many different leadership qualities such as time management, active listening, and patience. I must be focused on my students at all times when I am with them and through this i must have a proper schedule and the ability to not allow outside stressors to hinder my time or attitude with …show more content…

The one aspect of collaboration that I am working on this year, is trusting that the work will get done on time. Working on a team as large as Orchard Gardens is a new experience for me, but I believe that through this year I will learn a great deal about collaboration and be able to understand the value of working on a large team and getting tasks done both efficiently and

Almost everyone in a position of leadership had someone they looked up to while finding out who they were as a leader. In my case, I have always looked up to my old football and wrestling coach. I interviewed him for this paper and asked him a couple questions about his leadership style and how he became a leader. I have always respected Coach Mac ever since I was a freshman on varsity.
