Before high school, I was never able to multitask. I just found it easier to focus on one task at a time. Learning a foreign language, however, forces you to learn the skill of multitasking. From my experience, especially in the latter years of my foreign language studies, I can recall experiences from almost every day where we have had to switch between English and LANGUAGE. We do this so often that it becomes effortless and we are multitasking without even realizing it. Pennsylvania State University even found in a study that people who are able to “juggle” between languages, as I have in LANGUAGE class everyday, are better multitaskers. Going into college next year, the skill of multitasking becomes invaluable. With balancing work, school work, and a social life, multitasking will allow all three of those aspects of my life work cohesively, and I have four years of LANGUAGE to thank for
