The teacher shows the parents the student’s progress academically and they also talk about their behavior. Which is very hard to determine because there is no rubric for that and then there is a list of things the teacher can suggest to the parent to keep helping the students at home with. The conference with each set of parents last up to fifteen minutes and involves a lot of taking within that time period. So towards the end of the day I had the task of calling each student back to see if they could tie their shoe and possibly help teach them a little. It was fun talking to each child and then I marked if they could or couldn’t. I did this so when she has the conferences she can let the parents know if they need more help with this task. We did math today and the students learned about geometry. The teacher did a great job of relating it back to the world and how shapes are everywhere. The students then did two groups and one group worked with the teacher while the other group played math games. I felt the collaborative learning was a good idea and Ms. Thune stated it very wisely. She said, “Work with a partner, solve by myself, and check with a partner.” I felt this helps students learn early on to not cheat and figure problem out. I noticed at snack time though it is difficult for the teacher sometimes to get everyone back on time and she told me how she never really gets done everything she has planned because of everything going on in the day. I can understand how she feels that way and I can see how it can be an overwhelming job! Lesson planning seems difficult to me and she never really accomplishes everything she has planned so I feel like that would be very hard to deal with things being pushed back on some
