The mission statement for the Phoenix Fire Department says it all. They are “Committed to providing the highest level of public safety services” (Deferred compensation, n.d.) for their community. The first priority is to serve the public to the best of their ability and with the highest code of ethics. They also protect lives and property from fire, know medical skills, crisis prevention/management, and much more. They prevent harm by being properly trained for emergencies. Many firefighters rigorously train physically to be able to do their job and to save lives.
