One of the most important parts of society today is the family unit. Each family unit is different in the way that it is structured and the way that it is comprised. People come from different cultures and backgrounds whether they financial, religious, and racial or ethnicity differences it does not matter, they will make a different impact within the individual family unit. Many people take great amounts of time to maintain themselves physically appealing. The newest hairstyles and clothing along with the newest cars and electronics. It is all about appearance. This is a natural behavior all honest people will admit to. As a parent it is important for this behavior to present itself in another aspect of the individual’s life. First, we will look at the father in a typical American household. The father is generally seen as the primary bread winner. It is has calling to protect his wife and children. He needs to be manly and brave. The general public opinion will judge him by the size of the house he has provided for his family and the amount he spent on his family car. These standards of judgement set the expectations the father will give himself. Many fathers work hard and bring home a paycheck and other than attending birthdays and other major life events, he feels he has done his job. It was said that, “One hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of a car we drove, what kind of a house we lived in, how much we had in the bank account, nor what our clothes looked like. Every family is made up of two individuals that come from different households and cultures. This makes every family unit a unique experience. This is why it is important to remember that the fairy tale “happily ever after” endings are not something that is guaranteed. The family unit that wants to have a wholesome healthy family life needs to begin by understanding one basic principle: Family relationships are created, not found. Understanding this is the most important, and first, step in the entire process. There has to be the desire to create something new. It will be hard and discouraging some days but the journey will be worth it. This process Starts from the first glace at the person with whom the individual ends up marrying and continues forever. The lessons taught whether through example or during a sit down discussion between parent and child will never be lost. The way a spouse treats their partner will in turn influence their children. The way the children are treated will influence their choice in a partner and then the cycle begins again. The process is ongoing through generations. Society is focus on living for today. Trying to make themselves happy in the here and now. Less and less are looking towards the future to see what they can do to leave a positive mark on society.
