Personal Narrative: My Driver's Test

Before a young person can take your Driver’s Test they must know how to do the following my father would tell me: Change the oil and oil filter, Replace the Spark Plugs & Wires, Change & Rotate you tires, Replace the lights (head, signal, fog, brake), change the air and gas filters, they must know how much fluid is to be in brake cylinder and how to adjust the brakes as well as how to changes them and so much more. My first car was a 1977 two-tone blue Malibu-Classic, with a rag top that was shredded and faded, the right front fender was pale yellow, I had raised white wall letter tires and chrome rims. The motor was a 357 short block with four-barrel carbonator, the headers was bored out and where so shiny they were like a mirror from the …show more content…
I had glass pack mufflers that was so loud that they would rattle my windows off track. There was nothing electric about this car it was all manual and every bit of hard core American muscle, it was built for racing, and that is what I did. There was a lot that my father taught me before I took my driver’s test at the tender age of 13-year-old, but the most important was; all about the responsibilities of driving and owing a car.
I first learned to drive a four speed on the tree (column), it was my dad’s 1966 Chevy Army Green truck, I also learned how to work on this truck with him at a very young age. He taught me the importance of taking care of your vehicles so that they not only last but that they are always reliable. He told me that once I thought that I could handle the responsibilities on my own that we would go through a test run with a

I was so mad, not only did I lost that bet (drag racing and having the best car the side of the mason Dixon line), but the race, however, I also lost time and money on that motor. I had blown the head caskets and thrown a rod, as well as chip several teeth on the transmission. That night at the races was not a good night it was a costly one and one that I will never forget. So the lesson was learned and learned well… patience and lot of it. My father told me you done this one all on your own so you need to figure it out on your own. Boy that was a costly mistake, oh how I wished I had listened, because one of the lesson’s early on was that every motor must be broken in properly, meaning slowly give everything time to self-adjust and lubricate itself. You can just drop a motor in and then hit the track and expect it to hold up because it will not do

How I Learned to Drive is play about growing up and going through the different stages of life. Li’l Bit, the protagonist of the play, went through having an uncle that took advantage of her while she was growing up and dealing with the scars that it left her. The play is written in a way that is easy and allows the readers to follow along, but it is also written to make that the Uncle Peck is the one to blame and victimize Li’l Bit as well. Paula Vogel, the playwright, used characterization to help enhance her play by having a minimal cast list. She focused on Li’l Bit and Uncle Peck as the main characters so the readers will only pay attention to their movements and their mind sets.…

One thing that surprised me about the car was that the car tires were filled with nitrogen gas instead of compressed air. Nitrogen is a colorless and odorless non-toxic gas used to reduce the temperature of the tire and increase its lifespan. In races, it may be able to keep tire pressure more constant and slow pressure loss without reacting to the tire and rim materials. Another thing that surprised me about the car was its design and build. What really caught my eye was that the inside of the body shell of the car.…

Throughout my entire life I was raised around vehicles and tools. In fact my earliest memories of being in the presence of vehicles is when I would sprinting from my mother's Tan ford pinto up to the Billingsley tire shop to give my father his lunch for the day. I was always fascinated by the brightly colored tools and big machines. As i got older I also recall my Dad leaving a tool box full of snap-on tools completely at my disposal to play with and naturally just as any kid I wanted to be just like my father. When I was about 7 my father acquired a used 1998 Gmc Sierra that had already been modified.…

The 1960’s were an era of big power, big cars, and low 0-60 times. Yes, the jet-set era gave rise to international stardom and some of the most gorgeous cars ever sculpted. Race cars became more closely intertwined with their road-going counterparts and everyone benefitted. This was also a time when homologations (requirements of racing cars sold to the public) actually became enforced, letting real race cars and engines be sold to citizens. More importantly, it gave us the muscle car wars.…
