I have been interested in dentistry for as long as I can remember. I began my journey as a pre-dental student at Western Washington University. During my first quarter, I got the chance to speak with a team from one of the local dental clinics for almost 4 hours. After learning about what being a dentist included and chatting with the dental hygienist at the clinic for about half of my time spent in their clinic, I realized that dental hygiene was perfect for me. This lead to the beginning of my new journey, which included coming home to Alaska to take my prerequisite classes online while I worked. I have since become progressively more thrilled about my future. During high school I was involved at the pioneer home. I baked with a few of the elderly ladies every Saturday for two to three hours throughout most of my senior year. I help teach and mentor these amazing young ladies through coaching and leading clinics to help accentuate their strengths and strengthen their weaknesses. Currently I run the batting cages with a small group of high school girls once weekly, using an hour of our time to focus on strength and form based practice and thirty minutes to focus on mentality. As much as I love teaching these girls how to have the necessary mental toughness and believe in themselves and each other on the field, my overall message is truly something that I hope they will apply to everyday
